This morning, while I was connecting to Spirit, I sent a prayer to Mary the Mother of Angels. I’ve had some challenging times being a mother to my young daughter, since we’ve moved. I prayed, “With all my heart, I want to be a better mother, a better nurturer. I want to find solutions to her struggles and be a better guide for my daughter on her journey. I want to be more patient, more supportive and most of all I want to teach her to come from a place of love and not fear. And so it is.” I sent the prayer up without a thought for how it would return or when I would “know” Mary had heard me.

Mercury Retrograde is done and the planet has gone direct again. I have to be honest—I'm a bit relieved. This one was a bit more challenging than the ones in the past. Why? Well, for me, I think I was in a place where I was ready to dive deep and clean house and Mercury Retrograde was more than happy to help me out in that department.

Death has been on the forefront of my mind because my grandmother is currently working on transitioning from this life into the next. It has been ongoing process for quite some time, but recently has picked up speed. She is a lot more out of her body now than she was this summer when I spent time with her. There’s some confusion surrounding it and she’s starting to see more things that people claim “aren’t there”. (I let her in on a little secret this summer, “I see them too, Grandma. Just so you know—they ARE there…just not everyone can pick up on them.” There was a sense of relief and peace that came with that.)

This time of year always holds a special magic for me. Our days get shorter and the light is less. I used to panic about it getting dark, holding on to the last days of summer with all my might, but the last few years living in Alaska have taught me that the dark allows us to see things we would miss in the light. ‍This morning I was physically reminded of the magic that happens in the dark.

How do you connect to the other side? You follow the love. When I work with people to help them connect to their loved ones who have crossed over, the very first thing I seer feel is this blinding light full of love. The magnitude of it always takes my breath away.

Valentine’s Day rolls around and people everywhere get relationship questions on the brain: Will I ever find the one? Will my marriage last forever? Will this current relationship work out? What can I do/say/think to find the one?These are big questions. Of course we want to know if we will find love, but the real question being asked is, “Am I lovable? Am I worthy?”

I’ve focused a lot on the “space” or “environment” part of clearing, but haven’t given much attention to figuring out what needs to be cleared from the energetic side of life. This layout is all about discovery and digging deeper. It’s about finding what needs to shift and what is working for you.

I’m not a love guru and I certainly don’t have all the answers, but I decided to work up a relationship tarot/oracle spread so that you can gain more insight on how you can move forward with your partner on your individual paths.

Wondering what new book you should dive into now that the days are getting shorter? What better way to make the use of this down (dark) time than to pick up a copy of Nancy Canning’s Your Life’s Calling: Getting Unstuck and Fulfilling Your Life Lessons.This book caught my attention when it first came out, but I didn’t find time to read it until this summer. I’m so glad I brought it on the move with me. With big changes in my physical world, I was ready to make big changes on a soul level, as well. It deals with the concept of belief systems and how they affect everything in our lives.

The second annoying thing you will hear me say is that you have to have boundaries and filters in your psychic or mediumship work. If you don't want to be overwhelmed and burnt out, then you must set up boundaries for yourself and be firm about it. I was searching for a true beginner's guide to developing Mediumship abilities and picked up Janet Nohavec's "Where Two Worlds Meet".‍If you aren't familiar with my Mediumship sessions, I come from the point of view that believes EVERYONE has the ability to connect. Because of this belief, I have been trying to find a book that has great practice exercises and explains how Mediumship works for my clients and development students. "Where Two Worlds Meet" didn't disappoint.

One of my favorite tarot decks to work with is the Wildwood Tarot by Mark Ryan & John Matthews and illustrated by Will Worthington. It’s rich images, soulful messages, and shamanic energy make this my go-to deck for deep healing and seasonal readings, such as Winter Solstice. The deck is filled with beautiful pre-Celtic-inspired imagery. From the Green Man to the Blasted Oak to The Sun, the images are a delight to the eyes and easy to connect to on an intuitive level.
