Welcome to September! I always feel like the fall is the start of a new year–it’s probably because I’m still in “school year” mode with my child, but there’s just something about September that makes me want to dive in and learn something new and read a ton of books. This month I’m using the Radiant Rider Waite tarot deck and Kyle Gray’s Keepers of the Light. Yes, we’re using two decks–one tarot and one angel/oracle. This is partly because of my desire to try new things in the fall and the other is to show you how easy it is to blend tarot and oracle decks. In this instance, I’m using the tarot card for the message or the intuitive key and the angel deck for who you need to connect to directly–should you choose to–in order to work with your message. It will make more sense as I go and at the end I’ll share some ideas you can play with on how to connect directly.
Let’s jump into our collective message first and then we will get to the individual cards.
So, it’s really interesting because I specifically invited Archangel Gabriel this month to help out with the reading. I often invite in an archangel when I’m feeling that my energy is a little lagging or I don’t have a clear direction that I want to take the reading. It just makes things easier for me. When I flipped all the cards over, there was a ton of feminine energy that came up and I attribute that to AA Gabriel. Our collective card is Queen of Pentacles. For me, this card is all about the nurturing, mothering energy. It feels very Mother Earth to me. AA Gabriel also brings in this nurturing, as well, so if this collective message really calls to you, I’d suggest working with AA Gabriel this month.
What we need to know this month as a collective is that it’s going to be imperative that we tune into that nurturing energy–both in our home lives and our work lives. It’s one thing to work really hard to feel financially secure and it’s another thing to work in a manner that produces stable financials but also nurtures your soul. And this doesn’t mean that the work itself has to nurture your soul–It really speaks to how you approach your work, whatever it is. So if you’re working too hard or too much even in a job you love things are going to be off balance. And if you have a job that purely exists for financial stability and it’s not your passion–that’s ok, but figure out how to balance that with something you ARE passionate about. Shifting to look at the home life facet–the same applies. So the question here is: how do you create a nurturing environment in your home–one that supports you and makes you feel safe and taken care of?
AA Gabriel is nudging me to say that September is about making shifts or changes that bring more balance, nurturing, and a sense of thriving not just surviving overall. Not in just these two areas. I would say take a look at your relationships then, as well. How are you nurturing those? Are those relationships nurturing you back? And remember relationships can be our person to person ones, but they can also be our relationships to the world, to things, to behaviors, to beliefs… I mean right there is 3 months of work! What areas of life of thriving? Which ones are surviving and how can you make changes to move them towards the thriving end? If this is something that calls you to then I’d definitely tune in with Gabriel this month and start on that.
Ok, let’s look at Card #1. Our question was, “What do I need to know this month?” I left it super open intentionally. Card #1 folks got King of Pentacles in Reverse with Mary Magdalene as their guide. Let’s look at the tarot message first.
King of Pentacles in Reverse is speaking to how you are dreaming your life into being and where you are getting stuck. Are you focusing on the dream over all or are you getting stuck focusing on the bumps and obstacles that keep coming up? Are you stuck in how you always do things, unable to step into a new way of being or are you flowing and open to change so you can step into the next level of your dream? We can live our dream and not have it be perfectly executed. If you’re turning too much to the external or physical world to affirm that you are indeed living your dream, you’re going to be disappointed. This card is nudging you to let go of what you deem “success markers” for the moment and instead focus on the inner fulfillment of things. Mary Magdalene showing up as a guide for this points you to looking inward to your heart. Following the love within—letting that lead you to how you see the external world around you and being brave enough to follow your dream of life. Following that inner voice or call to make changes. I love this. I’ll talk more about how to connect to her at the end of the reading, in terms of work you can do around these cards.
Card #2 folks, you have the Knight of Pentacles. This whole reading is raining pentacles–even the 3rd card has pentacle-esque energy. It means that across the board, we’re looking at the things that make us feel safe, secure, home, money, etc. this month. Ok back to the Knight. It’s about putting in the work to make things happen. Putting in the time to make things manifest in your life. It’s not about doing it quickly–more about showing up consistently, if that makes sense. There’s a level of organization that needs to happen with this card. In order to make progress, you need to know the steps or details of the plan and work at it step by step, detail by detail. You definitely need a grounded plan of action to make this energy work for you this month and not against you. It may feel a little tedious or even boring, but when you look back, you’ll be so glad that you put the time and effort in. Your guide this month is Isis–and in this deck she’s representing Magic Manifesting. This makes total sense as a pairing. You put the time and effort and work into it–and stay focused–and you’re able to manifest what your intentions are. Working with Isis can help you make that focus stronger or bring you back to what’s important that needs doing for the greater good of your intention. I’m hearing that while manifesting may appear to happen as if by magic, it’s more often achieved with hard work and clear intentions. Something to take note of.
Card #3 folks, it’s the Hanged Man for you. The pentacle-esque energy comes from the halo around the person’s head. This is about embracing new perspectives this month. That’s what y’all need to know. Seeing things from a new direction or in a new light. Whatever you’re working on, whatever challenges make come up, relationship issues, etc., finding that new perspective is going to be the key to success. Here’s what is even more interesting Mother Mary is your guide for the month and right on that card it says, “Let go of the need to be right.” So, if you were wondering what perspective meant, I’d say Mary is coming in loud and clear. It’s so tempting to want to be right in every situation–and often it’s easier too, to just look at things and say, “I’m right and you’re wrong” because we don’t have to take the time to look at the nuances of things. And let’s be clear, I’m not talking about integrity. You can do things with integrity or without. That’s different from the “right/wrong” mentality. Often the need to be right comes from a place of having to prove that we are worthy. Worthy of being heard, worthy of love, worthy of respect. And so we mistakenly think that if we can prove we are “right” in the situation, then we will finally be seen and heard for who we really are. We will get that external affirmation that “yes! You are worthy!” it doesn’t really work that way. Being right all the time can make us really lonely. And it can also cause us to miss out on the bigger picture of things. So if you struggle with seeing a different perspective from your own or you’re feeling challenged in relationships, take a moment to call in Mother Mary and ask her how you can approach things in a different way–see things with a new perspective.
So how do you work with these lovely guides? In my angel readings, I often pull through angels or masters that my clients can work with to help them navigate whatever it is that comes up in the reading. Here are a few ways you can work with them:
- Invite their energy into your meditations
- Speak with them directly and ask for signs or messages to help guide you forward
- Automatic Writing to receive messages
- Put there image up to help remind you of what your focus is on for the month
- Research who they were, their culture, and what role they play in the religion or belief system they come from
I think the last one is especially important. Knowing who these masters are from the culture they came from is key. Often when they are brought into our Western perceptions, they are watered down versions. Tuning back into the source of where they came from gives you a much more powerful connection to them. So, I guess in the end September is totally going to be about books AND learning. See I couldn’t get away from it. I still ended up sending you to the library. What can I say?
So to recap: Look at what nurtures you and where you are surviving vs thriving.
Card 1 folks: Mary Magdalene is your guide. Be aware of where you are over focusing on the external and shift into following your heart.
Card 2 folks: Isis is your guide. Manifesting takes work and time. Come up with a plan to help you show up every day consistently to make it happen.
Card 3 folks: Mother Mary is showing up for you. It’s not about right vs wrong. It’s about seeing things in a new and more full perspective.
