The Tower can be a Warning

Most people see The Tower and brace for impact.
A plan unravels.
A relationship changes form.
A truth surfaces you didn’t expect.
Sounds lovely, yes? 🫠
It’s the card we really hope doesn’t show up – the one that whispers, “Something’s about to fall apart,” – marking a breakdown that’s out of our control.
Traditionally in the tarot, The Tower is viewed as something that happens to you.
The best you can hope for is to see it coming and brace yourself.
And…
Knowing that something’s about to crumble doesn’t necessarily help you navigate the actual real life process.
What if we worked with The Tower differently?
What if we shifted from a forecast of collapse to an invitation to decide how we’re going to meet that disruption as it happens?
Suddenly, The Tower becomes less a warning and more a moment of choice:
Something is changing.
I can’t control what’s falling down, but I can choose how I meet it.
It moves from the traditional meaning of:
- Collapse
- Upheaval
- Disruption
- Forced change
And becomes:
- A chance to build capacity in chaos.
- To release what no longer holds.
- To trust that collapse can clear space for new foundations.
- To meet change without losing yourself.
The Tower will shake something loose when it appears.
But you don’t have to panic and try to duct tape everything back together. You have another option…
Pause, breathe, and ask:
How do I want to respond to the unexpected?
How can I support myself through this forced change?
The Tower is just one of the more “dreaded” cards in the tarot.
